This seminar, for both film and digital photographers, will bring us
“From Picture to Digital Print.” Gary is a nationally known
professional nature, landscape and wildlife photographer based in New
England. For over fifteen years, he has led photo tours and lectured to
photographic clubs and organizations in both the U.S. and Canada. He
now leads tours for Strabo International Tour Co. Gary is a monthly
guest on Photo Talk Radio, out of San Diego. They broadcast over the
internet and folks can call in toll-free anywhere in the world to talk
to Gary about photography. The show airs Saturday mornings between
11:00 am and 12:00 pm www.phototalkradio.com. Gary is both senior and
managing editor for an on-line photography magazine, writing regular
monthly articles on digital and traditional photography. He now
publishes and edits his own nature and outdoor photography magazine
with his wife Pam,
www.light-chasers.com.
><>The seminar will be divided into four sessions:
• Fine Tuning Your Photography: This session takes you beyond the
basics, learning how to be picky about your photographs. The most
important step to quality printing is to get it right in the camera
first.
• Putting Film in Your Digital Camera: Gary will share tips on camera
setup and preparation, traveling with digital, and choosing the right
software for image manipulation.
• Ten Steps to a Great Image: Once the image is in the computer,
whether scanned film or digital capture, you’ll want to make
adjustments to your image to prepare it for your intended output. Gary
will take you through his ten steps and do so without you having to be
a Photoshop wizard.
• Get Ready to Print: Gary will share his experience and thoughts on
printing. He will talk about printers, papers and profiles, show you
how to size the image, and prepare it so that when your print is done
it will look the way you want it to, with the luminosity, vibrancy, and
color equal or better than a custom lab service.
This seminar is sponsored in part by Hunt’s Photo & Video. Hunt’s
will be on site to sell their photographic products and equipment. (If
you have any special requests for Hunt’s, please contact Gary Farber at
1-800-221-1830 ext 2332 or by email at filmguygary@aol.com). Door

About the Seminar:
This seminar is intended for film photographers who:

is getting so much publicity.
When making the transition from film to digital there is so
much to learn that it is overwhelming. This seminar will provide an
overview of digital
technology, help you cut through the jargon, and point you to
additional sources of information. One objective of the seminar is to
illustrate how far
digital photography has advanced by showing you numerous examples of
digital photographs. The seminar will be presented using a computer
with a
digital projector. A big selection of digital prints will be on display
for you to view. If time permits digital sequences with musical
accompaniment will be presented. Each attendee will receive an
extensive set of seminar notes that summarize the lectures presented.
The handout will also include an 8-page list of Internet sites where
additional information can be found and a 3-page camera purchase check
list.

models produced by more than 30 different
manufacturers. We will discuss: understanding your needs; the different
classes of digital camera; the role of the various specifications in
determining picture quality; and where to find up-to-date reviews.
Learning Your Digital Camera. This
topic will discuss: the controls on a digital camera; strategies for
learning them; suggested settings; an introduction to digital
photography workflow; and exercises that will help you develop a deeper
understanding of your digital camera.
An Introduction to Editing
Photographs. This topic will provide an overview of the things
you can do with modern editing software and recommendations on which
editors to choose.

B. Barnett from Milford, CT. Bill is well qualified to present
this material. He is an analytical chemist with many years of
experience in atomic spectroscopy, optics, scientific instrument
design, and computer user interface design.
He is also a photographer who has won numerous awards in international
competitions sanctioned by the Photographic Society of American as well
as in many local competitions. Bill has lectured on a variety of
photographic topics, acted as a judge for numerous competitions, and
